Type Approval System for GSM900/1800/1900 Mobile Stations
The R&S TS8916B system represents the top end of the R&S TS891xx family of conformance test systems for GSM mobile stations. The R&S TS8916B provides RF tests and protocol tests. It is still accredited for full type approval of GSM900, GSM1800 and GSM1900 mobile stations up to Phase2+ (GPRS) and Rel99, but is now succeeded by the new R&S TS8950G family of RF conformance test systems and by the standalone and multicarrier protocol testers based on the R&S CRTU-G and R&S CRTU-S GSM radiocommunication testers.
The system software of the R&S TS891xx system family has been frozen since 2004 and no further upgrades and extensions are planned for it.
New GSM functionalities such as GSM850, EDGE, AMR and DARP can be provided only on the new R&S TS8950G RF conformance test system, which can be extended for RF measurements in WCDMA FDD1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 to a R&S TS8950GW. Please see the presentation of the R&S TS8950xx.
To summarize for R&S TS8916B: The R&S TS8916B provides RF- and multicarrier protocol tests for GSM mobiles and comprises a total of nine physical RF channels and additional RF equipment to implement effects of fading or narrow band and wide-band interferers as required by the GSM type approval specifications. The heart of the R&S TS8916B is the Digital Radiocommunication Test Set R&S CRTC02, the workhorse in worldwide development and type approval of GSM mobile stations.
More than 40 systems of the R&S TS891xx family are installed worldwide at test houses and manufacturers.
